A family trip to Florida is one of those things that many families dream about due to the abundance of sunshine, beaches, and the most famous theme parks in the world being there, right? But as anyone who has ever traveled there with kids will know, despite its reputation as a magical destination, it can be pretty stressful if you haven’t planned your Florida trip to the Nth degree. The good news? Below are some tips to make sure your Florida trip is the fun adventure you want it to be and not a frantic vacation. Sound good? Read on. 1. Have a plan The thing about visiting Florida as a family is that it will go much better if you have a plan, but it will also be likely to end up with less stress if your plan is not too rigid. It is tempting to create a packed itinerary so you “fit everything in.” The thing is, kids get tired. Adults get tired. Florida heat is no joke. So, what should you do? It’s probably a good idea to schedule one or two main activities each day, and then leave plenty of room for breaks and spontaneity. Whether it is downtime at the hotel pool or an afternoon nap, those pauses can prevent meltdowns and keep everyone in a good mood. 2. Beat the heat Florida weather can be intense, especially in the summer months. Hydration is key. Bring refillable water bottles and actually use them. Hats, sunscreen, and lightweight clothing are non-negotiable. Oh, and if you’re hitting the theme parks, it is a really good idea to try and get there either in the early morning or the late afternoon when the sun is not quite so aggressive. Midday is the perfect time to explore those indoor attractions, have a meal in a nice restaurant, or even head back to your accommodation to keep cool. 3. Make transportation easy Long days at parks or attractions can be exhausting for little legs. Even older children who no longer use a stroller at home may struggle with all of the walking involved, which is why you might want to look at Scooter Bug stroller rental while you are in Florida. It will help you get the kids around the theme parks and attractions in a comfortable way, where they can rest if you want. It’s also a good way to save on luggage space if you have small kids. Less complaining, more enjoying. That is the goal. 4. Choose accommodation wisely Where you stay matters more than people realise. A hotel with family-friendly amenities like a pool kitchen area, or shuttle service can reduce daily stress. If you are staying for more than a few days, having access to a kitchen can help you prepare simple meals and snacks. Eating out for every single meal adds up financially and can be overwhelming for kids who just want something familiar. Have a fun family fling in Florida with none of the usual stresses!
