Go to an Indoor Gym Indoor gymnastics academies are a lot of fun. If your kids have not experienced this unique indoor environment, it is time to check it out. A great place to start is at South Shore Gymnastics Academy, where they offer an open house. Look for a gymnastics academy near you and sign your child up for an introductory or beginner class to test the waters. They can run, leap, and learn how to balance their bodies. It is a wonderful way to get energy out and gain confidence. Cartwheels, balance beams, and fun abound. Set Up an Outdoor Play Structure Think about every time you take your child to the park. They probably have a lot of fun and never want to leave. With climbing structures, jungle gyms, slides, and climbing walls, there is so much to do. If you live far from a park or just want to keep things close to home, consider installing a play structure in your backyard. Your kids can run outside anytime they want and experience the fresh air, sunshine, and run around to their hearts’ content. If your kids are a little older, you can install an obstacle course that is geared to their age group. Watch this short video for inspiration for creating your own backyard fun. Go for a Family Bike Ride Going for a bike ride should be simple enough that it does not need to make this list, but if your bikes are seeing minimal action these days, then it is time to put on your helmets and get outside. Make your next bike ride a family affair. Go out after breakfast on a lazy Saturday morning. Bring along a picnic or a few snacks and water for everyone. Stop at a nearby park and run around for a while. Pack a Frisbee and a soccer ball, and you are all set. Another fun idea is to go for a bike ride after dinner. Head over to a local ice cream shop and spend some family time together before heading home. Go to the Beach If you are lucky enough to live near the water and have an accessible beach, it is time to get wet. Pack all of the beach essentials, such as sunscreen, hats, water, snacks, beach towels, life vests, and shade, and you are ready to go run around on the sand and play in the surf. Should you find packing everything and everyone time-consuming and frustrating, designate a beach bag to keep all your essentials in. Replenish it every time you return home from the beach and make a note of any perishables you need to pack so the process will be easier next time.
