Our Budget Friendly Kitchen Remodel

6/16/2019

Welcome to our budget friendly kitchen makeover! We've been in our small Brooklyn co-op for 5 years now and have always disliked how dark and dated our tiny galley kitchen was, so we finally decided to give it an update.
US Japan Fam's budget friendly kitchen makeover
Watch our kitchen remodel step by step highlights video - a tour in the "before" kitchen, replacing our kitchen appliances (from mismatched black to new smudgeproof stainless steel whirlpool appliances), replacing our kitchen counters (from dark baltic brown granite to msi arctic white quartz countertops), adding new  white hexagon backsplash, and a tour of the "after" kitchen. I think it really brightened it up and gave it a much cleaner, fresher, and a bit funkier vibe, what do you think!? I mean, it'll never be a spacious pinterest perfect dream kitchen, but this is life in a Brooklyn co-op!

And if you're looking for tips on how to hire a contractor or go about remodeling your kitchen, check out this great post A+ Construction & Remodeling!

Wowza! Just the change in color from dark to white on the backsplash and counter makes it look so fresh. Came out gorgeous..are you planning to keep the cabinets in wood...or are you thinking of getting creative?

As I compared the photos of before and after, well the results are good but for me the before photos, for me they're better.

I love the look of the honeycomb tiles, so much. I have been looking for a backsplash idea and I think this would be a great one. Everything looks so good, and so clean. You did a great job.

I love how your kitchen turned out! It’s so bright and welcoming! I never would have guessed that your kitchen remodel was done on a budget. I’ve been wanting to renovate our kitchen, but have been worried about it being outside what we can spend, but I will definitely be taking a look at all the links you posted and trying to do something similar. Thanks for sharing!

There's no conversation more important to an eco-friendly kitchen remodel than energy efficiency. One of the best places to improve your home's energy efficiency is in your windows and doors.

Renovations don't have to be expensive to be well done and look amazing - you proved that. Love the simple changes you made to your space. It looks clean and fresh.
