When I delivered my son two and a half years ago, we were utterly clueless and exhausted. 24 hours after pushing my bouncing baby boy into the world, we were bombarded with discharge forms and paperwork. They made us return the newborn shirt and hat I thought I could save as keepsakes. It was a bit heartbreaking! From the hospital, we received a small pack of diapers and a sitz bath, though at the time I had no idea what that was. When the nurse left I ran around the room stuffing our bag with all of the supplies I could - witch hazel pads, sanitary napkins, disposable underwear, you know, the good stuff! I was pretty proud of the loot I managed to get out of there with. But do you know what would have been much much cooler? Receiving The Luxury Care (TLC) Swag Bag! I'd never heard of it until the owner of Gugu Guru (an awesome new baby registry that takes your style into account) introduced it to me a week ago, and it's a pretty brilliant idea!! Basically, brands pay sponsorship to have their coupons, samples, and products included in the tote bag, and then TLC Swag Bag partners with hospitals and birth centers to have their bags given to new moms at discharge... FOR FREE!!! All items in the bag are baby friendly and hospital approved. The contents of the TLC Swag Bag will vary monthly and by region. Mine included an awesome baby handprint keepsake kit from Pearhead and a tube of skin protectant ointment, among tons of coupons and smaller samples. A rep reports they're currently working with Bambo Nature, who will be contributing an entire pack of their highly rated eco friendly newborn diapers in each bag (select regions), and Mustela, who will include samples of their great baby skin care products in each bag in all regions. Want to see if your hospital has partnered with TLC Swag Bag yet? Check out the list here! The hospital I delivered at last time is not on the list, nor is the one we'll be using next time. If you're in the same boat, and want to encourage your hospital or birthing center to participate in this awesome program, you should reach out to management at your hospital, or send the name of the hospital to TLC Swag Bag so they can reach out directly!
